Little Surprises

Don't you just love little surprises? Those completely unexpected gestures or events that happen, and as they're occuring you feel as though God Himself just reached down from Heaven and gave you a big hug? One of those happened to us today...

Colin got in to work this morning to find this sitting beside his computer keyboard.

Since he's always one of the first people in the office in the mornings, he glanced around at other people's desks quickly to see if they had similar envelopes. He was the only one.

He opened the envelope and found this note (you can click on the picture to make it bigger):

And this:

A generous gift card to Flemings!

Donna, Colin's boss, does not know about our IVF treatments, but she does know that I had two procedures in the past couple of weeks. She knows that Colin needed to be there for me during these and that, in addition, Colin left work early recently to come home to be with me. I think Donna used her womanly intuition and surmised that something was up.

This morning Colin went into Donna's office to thank her for the gift. She told him that the gift was for both of us, but especially for me! She said that she appreciated all the hard work and long hours that Colin put in over the past few weeks, and she recognized that the timing was not great for us personally. She knows that we both made a lot of sacrifices so that Colin could get his work done, and she wanted us to have a special night out.

Can you believe it?! How amazing is this?! All I can say is - Thank you, God, for this tangible "hug"! We so needed this.

God is SO good! I love how women use their intuition. This Donna seems like a smart cookie :)

I just love it when God uses other people to show us that He loves us and cares about what we are going through. What a nice surprise!
